The deceased lady had been a patient sufferer for the past three years and the immediate cause of death was dropsy. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Montgomery, one of the grand old patriarchs of Mono township, and she was a native of that township. Mrs. Corbit had very many friends, being a woman of sterling character and goodness of heart, many there were to testify to the various kindnesses she rendered to all who asked her assistance. She was in her 68th year. She leaves behind her husband, one son, Mr. W. J. Corbit of this town and one daughter, Mrs. Stinson of Toronto, to mourn the loss of a loving wife and a fond mother. The funeral took place to Greenwood Cemetery on Monday afternoon, Rev. A. L. Burch of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian church, of which church Mrs. Corbit was a member, officiating at the church and at the grave. The funeral procession was one of the longest seen in this town in recent years, people being present from all parts of the county, thus showing the respect in which the deceased, her estimable husband and family are held by the community. The pallbearers were Messrs. John Gillchrist, W. G. Kearns, J. E. Smith, E. H. Sproul, James Hewitt and Robert Dale. Mr. Corbit and family have the sympathy of their many friends in this bereavement which they are called to bear. Samuel Montgomery, Orangeville, Benjamin, Joseph and David, Toronto, and Mrs. Robt. Elliott, Orangeville and Mrs. John McKinney of Toronto are brothers and sisters of the deceased lady.her,much respected resident of this town, was a lady who enjoyed the goodwill of everyone. She was known throughout the County of Dufferin as a woman of high ideals and one whose great pleasure it was to assist some one – any one – who needed help. The many good deeds she performed will live after her, although done quietly and not in a praise-seeking spirit. Those who knew her best can best testify to her many beautiful characteristics. She will be missed by her friends, he neighbors, family, but especially by her sorrowing husband to whom her death has been a great bereavement. May the God of all consolation sooth the sorrow of his afflicted heart in this heavy affliction which he is called upon to bear. As one who knew the late Mrs. Corbit intimately this little tribute comes with the hope trust that her devoted life may be an inspiration to others to walk in the straight and narrow way. Her body lies in the beautiful Greenwood cemetery overshadowed by lolty pines which never cease to sing their sad dirge over the graves of a silent audience; her soul is one of the innumerable ones that bask in the sunlight of eternal love, and she is at home where all is peace and where suffering cannot enter.
