In his days Sweden it was common to use partronyms, if anything, to determine relationships amon father and son with same first names. Neither was he know using "of Tillery" in his name. Although he was born in Scotland where the "of Tillery" was meaningfull, in Sweden it bore no meaning and was not used in documents.tps://genfiles.com/articles/senior-junior/en dated 20 January 1634 appears to make reference to Balmedie (mistranscribed as Bomaledy). In 1640 he joined the army as a corporal of horse with the Ingermanland noble corps. He was ennobled and introduced into the Swedish nobility on 18 May 1647, and he attended the Swedish Parliament the same year. Peter served as a "cornett" with the Åbo and Björneborg cavalry regiment in 1659 and served until 1665, the year he died. His last military rank was Master of Horse. Peter Udnie´s children owned land in Nyen (Ingermanland), but Peter the Great took these from Elisabet Udny on 1702 (she had married a Lutheran priest). Nyen became St. Petersburg in 1703. Grund för introduktionen var ett s. k. bördsbrev för Peter Udnie, utfärdat av magistraten i Edinburgh 20 januari 1636, enligt vilket Peter tillhörde en skotsk friherrlig ätt.illiam Udny of Tillery, som emigrerade 1634 till Sverige och som anses vara identisk med Peter Udnie. Peter blev 1640 korpral vid ingermanländska adelsfaneregementet. Han erhöll svenskt adelskap och naturaliserades 18 mars 1647, blev ryttmästare 1654 och stupade i Rautus 1656. Begravd i Viborgs domkyrka.
