He married Susanna Steffan (2 Aug 1673-3 Sep 1753) on 5 Feb 1697 at Steinsfurt, Baden. His wife Susanna was the daughter of George Steffen. The marriage record states that Peter was of Eggiwil (Ettenwil), Bern.1 Susanna died at Sandhausen. Peter was called a Reformed farmer at his death.2 Oct 1673, Dieboldsbach, Eggiwil, Bern, Switzerland. d. by 1741, Frederick County, Virginia. He lived at Hintersass in Sandhausen, Baden, Germany before emigrating to America. He married on 26 Jan 1701 at Steinsfurt, Pfalz, Anna Magdalena Steffen, daughter of Gabriel Steffan.1 In the marriage record he was called the son of Peter Neuenschwander.2 He baptized his oldest child, Anna Elisabeth at Sandhausen in 1701. He baptized his next three children, Anna Maria, Johann Jacob and Christian at the Wallonische Reformed Church at Mannheim, just across the river from Friesenheim.3 He apparently lived at Mannheim from 1704 to 1708. Christian Neuenschwander and his wife Magdalena were sponsors for Christian Stauffer's son Christian’s baptism on 24 Nov 1709 at Friesenheim, Germany.4 Christian and Magdalena lived at Friesenheim from at least 1709 to about 1718 and were members of the Reformed church at nearby Oggersheim, Germany. In the church records he was referred to as a councilman of Friesenheim in 1713 and 1718. He is probably the Christian Neuenschwander who was living in Pennsylvania by 1728 in Berks County. He is probably the Christian Neuschwanger who signed a petition with Yost Hite as resident of Colebrookdale Township on 10 May 1728 asking for relief from the government because of Indian attacks. He was an Elder of the Reformed Church at Skippack Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1730. He was in Virginia by 1732.5 He bought land from Jost Hite in Orange County, Virginia on 21 Mar 1736 (435 acres). Christian died by 1741 in Frederick County, Virginia. His widow married Jost Hite in November 1741 at Frederick County, Virginia.6 Jost already had eight children by his first wife Anna Maria Mercklin. Jost Hite made a marriage contract on 10 Nov 1741 with Maria Magdalena Niswanger which four of Jost's sons signed as well as Jacob Niswanger by mark "JN". c1678. He was a sponsor at Christian Neuenschwander's son's baptism at Sandhausen in 1716. He may be the Johannes Neuenschwander who died at Wiesloch, Baden, Germany in 1719.wander, b. c1681, Schangnau, Bern. She was called daughter of Peter Neuenschwander at her marriage. She married at Dühren, Baden, Germany on 7 Mar 1702, Hans Jacob Spiess, son of Hans Gilg Spiess of Dühren.
