36426 (or 36446) Trooper Richard Lionel De La Saux Simmonds, 50th (Hampshire) Company, 17th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry. Son of Edgar Robert De La Saux Simmonds and Charlotte Simmonds. Baptised on 28 Oct 1879 in Chilcomb, Hampshire. Volunteered for service in South Africa during the Second Anglo Boer War.
He died of disease at 11 Stationary Hospital, Winburg, Orange River Colony. He is also commemorated on a Boer War memorial plaque in the Winchester Guildhall, The Broadway, Winchester, Hampshire, England (see: https://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/72933).
