Born June 29, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at his home.
He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy M. (nee Brennan) Salamon, whom he married on July 22, 1950; beloved father of Connie (Tim) Krope of Naperville and Nadine Salamon of Lisle; adored grandfather of Jessica, Zachary, Stephanie, and Bradley (Jennifer); devoted son of the late Robert P. Sr. and Dorothy (nee Nolan) Salamon; adored brother of Mary Jane (Herbert) Henry, Dorothy (Terry) Sullivan, and the late Roberta (the late Jimmy) Linton; and fond uncle of many.
Bob served in the Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Convenient Food Mart on Hobson Road in Woodridge with his wife Dorothy and later owned and operated D & B Distributors, being affectionately known as "the Pop Man." Bob was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
