The late Miss Gettings was born in Uptergrove, where her early life was spent.
Of late years she had been teaching in the west and for some time past had been engaged as principal of a school in Ogden and also did considerable work as a writer.
One brother and six sisters remain to mourn her sudden loss. Mr John Gettings, Duluth, Minn., Mrs. D. Miley and Miss Mary Gettings, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Agnes J. Hampton, New York, N.Y.; Miss Ann Gettings, New Haven Conn.; Mrs. John Doyle, Uptergrove and Mrs. Edward Murphy, Orillia.
The remains were brought to Uptergrove to Mr. John Doyle's on Tuesday and the funeral took place this morning to St. Cumberkille's church where solemn High Mass was celebrated by visiting Toronto priests. The late Miss Gettings had not been a visitor in this vicinity for almost nineteen yeas but she is kindly remembered by many friends who keenly regret her loss.
