She was born on April 26, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert Elias and Mary Jane Smith Hunt. Her birth took place in the garden home of LDS prophet George Albert Smith. She married Gerald Gordon Hurley in the Salt Lake Temple February 5, 1959. Together they raised two sons and two daughters. In 1953 Diana graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, and in 1957 graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in education. She taught elementary grades for 25 years. She loved teaching and learning, and was an avid reader and lifelong BYU fan. Diana was a woman of deep faith and conviction. Her Christ-like example will be remembered by those who really knew her. She served all of those around her with genuine love, concern and compassion. Much of her time was dedicated to church service. Though she served in many ward and stake callings, her greatest love was teaching gospel doctrine. In 2002-03 she served a church proselyting mission to Birmingham Alabama. She also served many years as a temple worker in the Jordan River and Mount Timpanogos temples. Family was of greatest importance to Diana. That is where she found her greatest joy and fulfillment. A considerable amount of her time was devoted to teaching and serving those closest to her. She also found pleasure in traveling, golf and bowling.
