The funeral of Mr. Arthur Baden Cyril
Dennis left Devonport for the Perth ceme-
tery at 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday. From Dev-
onport there was a cortege of railway em-
ployes and friends, who followed the
hearse for a mile. The Devonport car-
riers were Messrs. Bramich, Bird, Elliott
and Macrow. Arriving at Perth at 4.30
p.m. the cortege proceeded from the resi-
dence of Mrs. John Dennis to the Perth
general cemetery. The carriers were Messrs
Crick, Coombes, Hinds and Watson. The
service was conducted by Rev. T. Church-
ward-Kelly. The chief mourners were
Mrs. E. Taylor, Howth; Mrs. H. E. Lock-
wood, Kentish; Mrs. E. Lockwood, Shef-
field and Mrs. A. Harris, Launceston
(sisters); Messrs. John Dennis, Launces-
ton, and William Dennis, Conara (bro-
thers); G. Bennett, sen. (uncle); L. Den-
nis, Launceston and T. Lockwood, Shef-
field (nephews) ; A. Harris, Launceston,
E. Lockwood, Sheffield, and H. E. Lock-
wood, Kentish (brothers-in-law). Among
the floral tributes were wreaths from the
Mersey Hostel, the stationmaster, Devon-
port, the locomotive enginemen, Devon-
port, and the Conara railway staff.
Mr. Dennis, who was the youngest son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Dennis, of
Perth, was a locomotive fitter in the Dev-
onport round house. He had previously
been road contractor, farmer, limestone
quarryman, osmiridium miner, B.H.P.
limestone bins motorman, B.H.P. running
gear fitter, and finally locomotive fitter.Source 1
