Funeral services for Jacob J. Aalfs, 81, who died Tuesday, will be at 1:30 p. m. Friday at Wesley Methodist church in Akron. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
Mr. Aalfs, a retired farmer and auctioneer, died at the Akron hospital after a sickness of six months. He was born January 18, 1871, in Groninger Province, Netherlands, and came to the United States in 1883, settling in the Le Mars vicinity. He married Anna Wetrosky in 1891 at Neptune. She died in 1943. They farmed in Union County, S. D., for almost 50 years, and lived in Akron for about 25 years. Surviving are a brother Nittert Aalfs, Sioux City, a daughter, Mrs. Edna Trindle of Cheyenne, Wyo., four sons, John of Humboldt, S. D., Clarence of Akron, Clifford, Sioux City, and Lester of Watertown, S. D., 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
