Last Will and Testament of Samuel Morse (Moss)
In the name of God Amen. 1. Samuel Morse, of Granville County in the Province of North Carolina, being sick and weak of body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory, praise be therefor given to Almighty God, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth. That is to say:

First and principally, I commend m soul into the hands of Almighty God, hoping through the merits, death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ, full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life, and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned, and as touching the disposition of all such temporal estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me, I give and dispose thereof as followeth:

Imprimiss, I give and leave all my temporal and real estate to my well beloved wife, Elizabeth Morse, during her natural life or widowhood and after her decrease to be given in legacies hereafter mentioned.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son John Morse, the elder, two pounds three shillings and ninepense Virginia money, and likewise I give to him the said John Morse seven pounds sixteen shillings and threepense that is now due to me, the testator, clear from any demands hereafter rising.

Item: I give to my son Samuel Morse the plantation and land thereunto belonging and all the appurtenances thereunto and also all and every my personal estate goods and chattels after my wife's decrease.

And I here hereby constitute and appoint my son Reuben Morse whole and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament. I desiremy estate not appraised, being not indebted.

As Witness Whereunto I set my hand and affix my seal this twenty ninth day of April in the year of our Lord ano domoni one thousand seven hundred and sixty.

John Moss had three wives. Name of the first wife is unknown-two children, Terry B. Moss, and Joshua Moss. His second wife was Mary (Polly) Kittrell,
six children, Jonathan, Sarah 1788, Nancy Ann 1791, Martrha (Patsey)
Sep.1796, Ruben Eaton 1800, and Jane (Jenny). His third wife was Nancy Ann
Kelly, two children as listed. It is believed that Kelly was her name from a previous marriage. Her maiden name is unknown at this time.
