Mrs. Dora Mouw Kiel, age 91 of Alcester, died on November 25. Funeral services were November 27 at the Alcester Baptist Church. Pastor Robert Toren officiated. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Dora Mouw spent her early years at Matlock and on February 12, 1909 was married to Hayo Kiel. The couple made their home on a farm near Artesian, South Dakota for six years and then moved to Archer, Iowa. In 1922 they returned to South Dakota when Mr. Kiel took a position as night watchman at Alcester. In 1936 the couple opened a rooming house in Alcester.
After her husband's death in 1962, Mrs. Kiel continued to operate the rooming house until her retirement in 1966. Since that time she has made her home with her children with the exception of the past eight months when she has been a resident of Morningside Manor.
Mrs. Kiel was baptized in the Baptist Faith and, at the time of her passing, was a member of Alcester Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Bertha (Mrs. Edwin Johnson) of Alcester and Jeanette (Mrs. Henry Felsheim) of Parker; two sisters: Mrs. Ella Menning of Orange City, and Mrs. Mattie Vos of Hospers; four grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, four brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
