See notes under her husband. Jannetje's oldest son Maarten must be Maarten Swiep who genealogists have been trying to figure out the identity of for decades. It's another instance of the son changing his "surname" (actually more of a nickname at this point in history). His first name came from Jannetje's father.[1]
Proof of Jannetje Maartens parents comes from the will of Eelkje Meinderts dated Feb 17 1681. Her son Pieter Mattheus is listed with his brothers-in-law Cornelis Maartens and Pieter Pieters Joosjen. Pieter Teeuwes (a variant of Mattheus) married Teedt Maartens; Pieter Pieter Joosjens married Jannetje Maartens; Cornelis Maartens was Teedts and Jannetjes brother.
Jantje Maartens is listed in her father Maarten Cornelisz's will dated March 3 1671. Also listed are her husband Pieter Pietersz Joosjen, her mother Grietje Pieters / Pieterman and her siblings Kornelis and Tetje.
In a contract over inheritance dated July 19 1717, Jannetje Maartens (deceased) is listed with her husband Pieter Pieters, her sons Maarten, Pieter and Joost (deceased) and Joost's wife Maartje Pieters and children Jantje, Maartje and Geertje. Pieter her husband lived in de Buurtje; everyone else lived in Kathoek. The guardians (voogden) of Joost's children were to take care of their inheritance for them. Maarten was to receive the house in Kathoek on the Noorderdijk with some land of 1500 roeden on the Kleingouw, 200 roeden in Bovenkarspel on the Kleingouw, 800 roeden in Wervershoof, 10 of the 30 cows, and 800 guilders. Pieter was to receive the upper house in Kathoek where he was living, land of 1400 roeden on the (dienen?)sloot, 900 roeden on the Nieuwesloot, 1000 roeden on the Kleingouw, 175 roeden in Grootebroek on de Kleingouw, 10 cows. Pieter was also given 500 guilders to give to his deceased brother Joosjen's children as they needed it. Joosjen's children were also to receive land of 1500 roeden by the Hardegrondtsloot, 1075 roeden close by, 900 roeden on the Nieuwesloot, 200 roeden close by, 800 guilders, 10 cows, horses and the wagon. It seems there was a debt of 1000 guilders that both Maarten and Pieter were supposed to help take care of, so they were each paid 30 guilders to make the payments, Maarten on each May 1 and Pieter on each May 15. It may be another payment to be made to Joosjen's children since something similar was listed under them.
