Savory, Thomas
xxx Sargent almost always appears in the records with the title "Mr." On1 June 1658 he was made a freeman by the Plymouth General Court (PCR3:137). A fairly good, but mostly undocumented, family history is AaronSargent, Sargent Genealogy (Somerville, Mass., 1895)—some errors in theearly generations have been corrected by the Moriarty articles. This bookalso transcribes William Sargent's will. His children by his first wifewere Elizabeth (died young), Hannah (married Henry Felch of Reading,Mass.), Elizabeth (married [1] David Nichols of Boston and [2] ThomasBill of Boston), and Mary (died young). By his second wife, Sargent hadSarah and Mary, both of whom probably died young. By his third wife hehad John (married [1] Deborah Hillier of Barnstable and [2] LydiaChipman, daughter of John and Hope [Howland] Chipman, and granddaughterof Mayflower passenger John Howland); Ruth (married [1] Jonathan Winslow, son of Josiah and nephew of Gov. Edward Winslow, [2] Richard Bourne ofSandwich, q.v., and [3] John Chipman [after the death of his wife Hope];and Samuel (died unmarried). Sargent has many descendants living today.
