LONGS - John L. Carter, 86, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at LorisCommunity Hospital after an illness.
He was born March 14, 1914, in Longs, a son of the late Jessie P. andBertha Boyd Carter.
He was a retired carpenter and tobacco farmer. He was an active member ofGall Hunting Club. He was a member of Mount Leon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Carter; a son, Wilbur L. Carter ofLongs; a daughter, Versie West of Loris; a brother, Paul Carter of Longs;four sisters, Alice Sullivan and Louise Chestnut, both of Myrtle Beach,Aleene Canada of Longs and Pauline McKenzie of Socastee; eightgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Hardwick Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Leon Baptist Church. Burialwill be in Mount Leon Cemetery. The Rev. Lonnie Johnson and the Rev.Russell Hewitt will officiate.
