This the eighth of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine
between BENJAMIN WARD of the one part and ELIZABETH JANE GORE of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said B. Ward for and in consideration of One Hundred and fifty dollars in
hand paid by the said ELIZABETH JANE GORE hath given granted, bargained and conveyed
and confirmed to the said ELIZABETH JANE GORE all that part or parcel of land Patented by
SAMUEL HARGROVES situated in said County containing one hundred Acres as by the Grant doth fully appear butted and bounded as follows: Beginning at a Stake on Waccamaw River running East twelve chains fifty links to a Stake on his line thence on his line North nine chains
fifty links to a pine then East thirty-eight chains Seventy-six links to a pine then North fifteen
chains to a Stake on the line of said Hargroves then on it West thirty six chains seventy six links to two pines his corner thence North eighty West nineteen chains to a Stake then South ten West Seventeen chains to the River thence down the River to the Beginning as by the plat doth appear.
Also Thirty acres given by said JOHN WARD to said SAMUEL HARGROVES as heretofore
fully understood to her the said ELIZABETH JANE GORE. To Have and to Hold the said tract
and parcel of land from his the said BENJAMIN WARD his heirs and assigns, forever and
lastly he the said B. WARD for himself his heirs, Executors, Administrators and assigns do
covenant and agree to and with the said ELIZABETH JANE GORE her heirs and assigns to
Warrant and forever defend the said bargained premises unto the said ELIZABETH JANE
GORE her heirs and assigns against the lawful right to ? or claim or demand of any person or
persons whatsoever who shall lay any right, title or claim or demand to any part of the said
bargained premises contrary to this lawful right or title of her the said ELIZABETH JANE
GORE.
In Witness hereof the said B. Ward hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date first
above written.

September Term 1844. The due execution of this deed was proved in open Court by the oath of
BENJAMIN SIMMONS and ordered to be Registered.
--------Note: A child under age could be deeded land but would have to be of age (21) to sell. If the 1850 census is correct, she would be about 1 year old in 1839.

Etheldred Bozeman was appointed her guardian in 1840 and in the 1850 census she was living in his household. She married Crawford W. Bozeman (son of Etheldred) in 1852.
