LORIS - Nell Winesett Hardwick Stanley, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, atIntergrated Health Services facility in Charlotte, N.C. after an illness.
She was born in Eugene, Ore., a daughter of the late Eli Winesett and May Steele Winesett.
She was the owner and operator Hardwick Fertilizer Co. in Loris. She wasa homemaker and a member of Loris First United Methodist Church. In highschool, she was a member of the State Championship Basketball Team forWhiteville High School and a member of the Loris Town Hall RestorationCommittee.
She and her husband, Thomas Wayne Stanley, were recipients of theCitizens of the Year Award in 1997.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Nathan E. ``Buddy''Hardwick III and his wife, Ann of Dunwoody, Ga.; two daughters, Danya Yonand her husband, James, and Susan Fitch and her husband, Burt, all ofCharlotte; a brother, William Winesett of Roland, N.C.; a sister,Virginia Garthwaite of Winchester, Va.; six grandchildren, Alex Hardwickof St. Petersburg, Fla., Nathan E. Hardwick IV and Natalie Hardwick, bothof Dunwoody, Thomas Yon and James Yon, both of Huntersville, N.C., andDaniel Fitch of Charlotte; and three great-grandchildren, ChristopherFlynt, Victoria Yon, and Avery Yon, all of Huntersville.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Loris First United MethodistChurch. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery. The Revs. Doug Gillilandand Gene Norris will officiate.
