George Nelson's love story began with his wife, Alyne "Bunny" Sloan, at Baylor in 1942 and ended together at their home on June 5, 2007. Their wish had been to enter God's kingdom as one - the way they lived. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 10, in the Garden Room at the funeral home.
George was born on July 17, 1920 to the late Rev. and Mrs. Calvin Nelson, Sr. of Palestine, and graduated from Baylor in 1947. He worked as a salesman in the packaging industry and was a local watercolor artist.
Left to cherish their memories are their sons, Ronald Nelson and wife, Beth, of Waco and Jim Nelson and wife, Jeanne, of Hewitt; daughters, Kim Sayatovic and husband, Jay, and Lisa Hamm; grandchildren, Drew Nelson, James A. Nelson and wife, Wendi, Taylor Nelson and Gene Hamm, III; great-granddaughter, Bianca Nelson; sister-in-law, Mildred Nelson, of Uvalde; and many dear and loving nieces and nephews.
