Below is from the notes of Ms. Martina Simmons, of Charlotte, NorthCarolina.
"Jacob Simmons, born 11-30-1852 and died 3-5-1929 at his home aftersuffering a stroke about a week before. He and Almira are buried in theGeorge Fowler cemetary but have no stone.
Jacob's mother was Elizabeth Simmons (however I believe she was Elizabeth Norris and perhaps the sameBetsy Norris that had a child for Zachariah Wright in 1841 - her first child is Goldsberry J and there is
a G J Norris that signed a deed for her in 1859 that when he married he
signed his mother as Elizabeth Norris and his father as Zechariah. I think
he is the same as the Goldy J. Norris that served in the Co. D of the 20th
infantry and married Priscilla Spivey, daughter of Owen. However, I believe his
death certificate to read James G. Norris. He married at least 3 times I
believe.) Elizabeth Simmons had some land deed to her for the natural love
and affection from a McKinney Sims who was her elder about 45 years. I don't
know if this was a grandfather or what.
Jacob recorded his ancestoral rights as a voter in 1902 or 1904 to William
Norris (this would have been grandfather or father). As you can see thi sis
a big mystery and I've been trying to solve it since the beginning so if
anyone can help me - please do! "
