FORT WORTH - Robert "R.J." Combest , 80, a retired Industrial Engineer for General Dynamics, passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, at a Bedford Hospital.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
R.J. was born June 24, 1920, in Anna. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a graduate of Texas A&M University. He was preceded in death by his parents, Addie L. and Bertha Combest ; his wife of 41 years, Rita M. Combest , in 1987; and a brother, Lewis Combest of Van Alstyne.
Survivors: Sons, Bob Combest and wife, Chris, and Al Combest ; daughter, Elva Delaune and husband, Wybra; stepson, Lawrence Adams of Kenner, La.; brothers, Leroy Combest and wife, Delores, of Whitesboro and Jack Combest and wife, Vaudine, of Seminole; sisters, Eloise Marshall of Princeton, Patsy Tommy and husband, Bob of Carthage, Mo., and Madell Anderson and husband, Charles of Princeton; sister-in-law, Opal Combest of Van Alstyne; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
