Alexander Duff, 1st Duke of Fife 2 Sir Alexander William George Duff, 1st Duke of Fife was born on 10 November 1849 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was the son of Sir James Duff, 5th Earl Fife and Lady Agnes Georgiana Elizabeth Hay.1 He married Louise Victoria Alexandra Dagmar Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Princess Royal of the United Kingdom, daughter of Edward VII Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, King of the United Kingdom and Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Princess of Denmark, on 27 July 1889 at Buckingham Palace, St. James's, London, England.1 He died on 29 January 1912 at age 62 at Aswan, Egypt, without male issue.1
Sir Alexander William George Duff, 1st Duke of Fife also went by the nick-name of MacDuff.
