Served under General Stark at Bennington and fought under General Wayneat Stony Point. He was a minute man and marched on the Lexington AlarmApril 19, 1775. He took part in the battles of Bunker Hill June 17, 1775and Trenton. He was at Westpoint at the time of Benedict Arnold'sTreachery. he was also with General Green in the southern campaign andwas present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown, VA which closedthe war. At the battle of Trenton, Thomas engaged in a personal encounterwith a husky Hessian soldier and wrested from him a fine musket which ourkinsman used to mark advantage from that time on during the war. Thismusket was in the family for 75 years before it disappeared. Thomas was aprivate, sergeant and lieutenant in the Continental Army.
