ORANGEBURG - Services for Bennie Harry Davis, 78, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 1998 at Northside Baptist Church, with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. The family will be at the residence, 1212 Sawyer St., Orangeburg and will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg. Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1250 Columbia Rd., Orangeburg 29115.
Mr. Davis died Sunday, November 8, 1998 at the Regional Medical Center after an illness. Born in Orangeburg on May 24, 1920, he was a son of the late Allen Davis and Lena Boltin. He retired from U.S. Plywood after 35 years and served in the European Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Northside Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class at Northside Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Antley Davis of Orangeburg; son, Harry A. Davis of Columbia; daughters, Elaine Bryant of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sherry Sprott of Charleston; three stepsons, Gene Black, Ned Antley and Clark Antley; two stepdaughters, Sandra Kittrell and Mary Arnold; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren of which two of them are Michelle Kittrell and Joey Kittrell ; and six step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bonnie W. Davis.
