Deceased Name: Mr. William W. "Billy" Kittrell
Mr. William W. "Billy" Kittrell , age 57, of Yulee, passed away on Thursday evening, April 14, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center - Jacksonville.
A native of Fernandina and lifelong resident of Nassau County, he was the son of the late, William B. and Dorothy Reeves Kittrell . An accomplished Craftsman and Carpenter, Mr. Kittrell had worked for 11 years with Jim Thomas Construction, during which time he restored and renovated historical structures to include the John Denham Palmer House; which is now Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. He later started his own business, Kittrell 's Building and Remodeling, which he owned for 9 years. In 1995 he pursued another love; that of a Marine Mechanic as he opened and maintained Kittrell 's Kicker Shop, until his passing.
Billy was a member of Nassau Bassmasters, Fishers of Men and the Florida BASS Federation; where he was also a member of the Board of Directors.
He was an active member at Celebration Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents, an infant son, Anthony Brice Kittrell , and a sister, Bonnie Kitrell Ennis.
Billy leaves behind, his wife, Sue Kittrell ; to whom he would have been married for 21 years on May 19th of this year, a son, William Wade "Will" Kittrell , II, (Leah), Fernandina Beach, FL, a stepdaughter, Kimberly "Kim" McNeely, (Johnnie), Yulee, FL, a sister, Sandra Loper, Fernandina Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Asia Kittrell , Nicholas McNeely, Tyler McNeely and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 11:00 am, on Monday, April 18, 2011 from the Celebration Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Kwiatkowski, officiating.
Mr. Kittrell was laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Johnny Armstrong, Aaron Bell, Tim McCoy, Francis French, Eddie Jinright and Roger Linville.
Honorary pallbearers were: J.W. Woods, Bob Schlag, Rick Dopson, Jack Keightley, Harry Mumford and Michael Bell.
His family received friends from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday at the Oxley-Heard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Celebration Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1437, Yulee, FL 32041.
