Linda L. Hinton, (70), a lifelong resident of Springfield, IL died Friday, August 26, 2011 of natural causes at St. John's Hospital. Born March 16, 1941 in Springfield, IL she was one of two daughters born to L.W. "Scotty" Hinton and his wife, Florence Hinton. Linda spent her childhood with schoolmates that she remained in contact with her entire life. She attended Butler Grade School and graduated from Springfield High School and then pursued her career in the work sector. Linda held numerous positions as a program coordinator and secretary. She began and devoted the majority of her career working within the medical community for hospitals, such as Memorial Medical Center and Prairie Heart Institute at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. Although tirelessly dedicated to her work to provide for her two sons that she raised on her own as a single mother after her divorce, Linda's true ambition was to own her own business. In 1994, her ambition became a reality for many years as she owned and operated 'Twas the Night Before, an exclusive Christmas boutique that brought her and her many clients much joy. Her efforts and creativity as an entrepreneur at 'Twas the Night Before were recognized in personal thank you letters from Presidents George H.W. Bush, William J. Clinton, and George W. Bush for her dedication of Presidential Christmas ornaments she sent to The White House as gifts featuring the artwork of historical Springfield sites and persons, such as President Abraham Lincoln. Still determined to work, she continued public service as an employee of the State of Illinois and worked on staff for esteemed Illinois state politicians such as Senators John J. Milner (R) and the late Adeline Geo-Karis (R) at the Illinois State Capitol Building until her retirement in 2009. After retirement, Linda remained involved in the Red Hat Society and would enjoy socializing with her friends at card club. Linda came from a family with a great German heritage that had an even greater sense of humor that always filled our homes with laughter during family gatherings. She was a tremendous cook and loved to treat her friends and family to amazing home cooked meals. However, it was Linda's determination, kind heart, and selfless devotion to her children, family, and friends that she will best be remembered for. Linda is survived by her two sons, Mr. Michael R. Huesing (Springfield, IL) and his wife Jami Huesing (Springfield, IL) and Major Scott A. Huesing, USMC (San Marcos, CA) and his wife Kimberly A. Huesing (San Marcos, CA) and her sister Carolyn Donner (Springfield, IL). Linda leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren, Bailey Ann (7), Marissa Nichole (4), and Brock Edward (2); and a host of other family such as her cousins Don and Nikki Owens, Judy Bartholf, Kelli and Steve Hutton, Kristi and Chuck Bell, Mike and Laura Mudra, Greg and David Donner and all seven of their wonderful children. Linda will be missed by many close friends like Sue Niccolls, Van Meter Family, Sal Madonia, and Dr. George Taylor Family. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield, IL 62703.
