Dixie Sanders Wylie, 92, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, November 29, 2013. Funeral services are 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Evergreen Baptist Church in Louisville, Mississippi, with Dr. Jeff Holland officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9 until service time at Evergreen Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Dixie was born in Louisville, Mississippi, on November 23, 1921. She graduated from Louisville High School and East Central Community College, in Decatur, Mississippi. She was employed as a sales clerk at Fred's Department Store in Louisville for many years. Dixie was a long-time member of Evergreen Baptist Church where she taught the same Sunday school class for over 60 years, directed the Woman's Missionary Union, served in the nursery, directed Vacation Bible School, and at times played the piano. She was also an active volunteer for the Winston Country Baptist Association. She was a devoted and passionate Christ-follower, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Madge Sanders; her brother, Lionel Sanders; and her husband, Billie Wylie.
She is survived by her only child, Linda and son-in-law, H. O. Holland, of Pascagoula. She is also survived by her grandsons, Dr. Jeff (Denise) Holland, of Brandon; Kevin (Beth) Holland, of Ocean Springs; and five great-grandchildren, Connor, Cassidy, Cade, Jackson, and Hayes Holland.
Services are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 N. Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS 39339. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by signing the guest register at www.nowellmasseyfuneralhome.com.
