He served in the Revolution, with the Williamsburg Militia, until the Fall of Charleston, at which he was present, on 12 may 1780. He took up arms again, on21 May 1780, when the British forces moving up from Charleston invaded Williamsburg. Continued to serve as a scout in the Partisan Forces of Marion's Brigadethrough 1782. Had a land grant on the Lynches River, in Lee County. Childrensettled in Lee, Sumter, and Clarendon Co. Had a Horry land grant next to James Thompson on longside of Cowpen Bay on Hell Branch-1810 16 nov 1811-listed asneighbor of John Beaty. Horry land on N side of Waccamaw R on Crabtree Swamp.FAmily legend says that Henry and Sarah Durant are buried at the Salem Black River ("Old Brick") Presbyterian Church. In 1790 is listed twice, once under Camden Dist, Claremont Co, and again under Salem DIst, Clarendon co. 1800 Sumter: 3m <10, 1 m 16-26, 1 m >45, 1 f <10, 2 f 10-16, 1 f 26-45 Will filed in SumterCo, pr 25 may 1805 Sumter.
