Louise Hudgins Kittrell, 95, of Parker’s Fork Road, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 in her home.
Mrs. Kittrell was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late William Pugh and Maggie Perry Hudgins. A graduate of East Carolina Teacher’s College, now East Carolina University, she had taught at Gates School. A faithful member of Parker’s United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women she had through the years served in many areas of church work. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Parker Kittrell, Sr.
Surviving are one son, George Parker Kittrell, Jr. and wife Mary Kathryn of Corapeake; a brother, John S. Hudgins of Raleigh; two grandsons, John Taylor Kittrell and wife Renee and G.P. Kittrell, III, all of Corapeake; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb Parker Kittrell, John Sigmon Kittrell, Justin Taylor Kittrell, and Kathryn Rebecca Kittrell.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Parker’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mike Askew. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and all other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parker’s UMC Cemetery Fund, 359 Parker’s Fork Road, Corapeake, NC 27926; the Sunbury Volunteer Fire Dept. Station #2 Building Fund, 95 Parker’s Fork Road, also Corapeake; or the Gates County Rescue Squad, Gatesville, NC 27938.

Hattie Hudgins ASBELL, 79, a retired teacher, died Dec. 29, 1991, in an Elizabeth City hospital. Mrs. ASBELL was born in Perquimans County. She had retired from the Currituck and Chowan County school systems after 35 years. She was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church, Sunbury. She was the widow of Vernon ASBELL. Survivors include two sisters, Louise KITTRELL and Lucy KITTRELL, both of Corapeake; a brother, John HUDGINS of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews. (The Virginian-Pilot - December 30, 1991; pg.
