Edward Maurice "Tom" Kittrell, 94, of Kingston, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
Born March 23, 1910, in Oakdale, he was the son of Halcie Wilson and Frederick Monroe Kittrell.
According to his family, Mr. Kittrell was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked for Tennessee Valley Authority a number of years and retired from Union Carbide in 1975. He was a charter member of Andersonville Masonic Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church Kingston for 49 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Pearl Howard Kittrell; and by two brothers, Louis and Charles.
Mr. Kittrell is survived by his son, Ronald Kittrell, of Oak Ridge; his granddaughter, Simone K. Wright and husband, David A. Wright, of Fort Worth, Texas; his great-grandson, Cameron A. Wright, of Fort Worth; his brother, Merle Kittrell, of Seagoville, Texas; his special friend, Cathy Taylor, of Rockwood; and his stepgrandson, Matt Smith, of Oak Ridge.
His family would like to give a special thanks to nurses and physicians at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and the staff and nurses at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at First Baptist Church Kingston with the Rev. Dr. Roy Graves and the Rev. Charles Kelly officiating.
Burial will follow at Crab Orchard Cemetery in Oakdale. His nephews, Donald Kittrell, Evert Kittrell, Louis Kittrell, Gerald "Spook" Kittrell, Jim Humphreys and Steve Kittrell, and his great-grandson, Cameron Wright, will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg is in charge of arrangements.
