Hannah JONES - b. 1765-1770; d. probably in McMinn Co., TN. Two entries in the Chester County, SC court minutes, along with census and other evidence, identify Bathshaba as the illegitimate daughter of Hannah and George: On April 8, 1788 George KELSEY entered into bond for payment of the fine of Hannah JONES incurred in committing fornication. On July 9, 1788 Hannah JONES being charged with bastardy, was acquitted of any fine, and entered into bond with Jonathan JONES as security for the child's maintenance. Hannah married William HALE about 1795, and information on all their children follows. Daughter of Jonathan JONES and Bathshaba.
===========================
Jonathan Jones died in 1804 in Chester County South Carolina. He married Bathsheba.
Jonathan Jones - d. 1804, Chester Co., SC. He held land in Chester District, SC in 1790 and was granted 331 acres in Chester District in Feb. 1791 (see deed wording following). Listed in the visitation list of the Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church on Jan. 16, 1775, together with children Zuley and John. Neither child is included in later records, and the known children of Jonathan and Bathshaba were not listed - perhaps they were away from home, or in bed. It may be that son Jonathan was listed as John on the visitation list. Jonathan, Sr.'s will was dated Apr. 13, 1804 and probated Nov. 1804, naming his wife "Bethshabe," sons William, Jonathan and Joseph, and daughters Hannah HAIL and Mary WHITESIDE.

Bathsheba.Bathsheba married Jonathan Jones.
Bathshaba - Named Bersheba in the 1775 visitation list noted above. Her name appears as Bathsheba in a Mar. 10, 1797 deed from "Jonathan Jones & Bathsheba, his wife of Chester County to Thomas Wallace of Chester County, for Forty Pounds Sterling, 108 Acres, part of a tract of 331 acres granted Jonathan Jones by Gov of South Carolina, Feb. 7, 1791 Begin Carter's Corner, with his line, bounded on Kelsey's, John Ramseys, Cap Parker's, Mr. Lewisons; on water of Rockey Creek Encuding John Samples Improvements." Signed by Jonathan Jones and Bathsheba Jones (by her mark 'B'), witnessed by Elizabeth Jones and Mary Whiteside, and proved Sep. 24, 1800 by Elizabeth Jones. [ Chester District Deeds, Book H, page 36, No. 20.] The deed text quoted is as reported in Hight-Hite, Prindle-Pringle & Wallace Families, by Robert E. Wallace (CD #1261 from Heritage Books <http://www.heritagebooks.com/>). It would appear that Elizabeth JONES was wife of Jonathan JONES, Jr., and he and Mary WHITESIDE were children of Jonathan JONES and Bathsheba.
