2nd Regiment, South Carolina Artillery
2nd Heavy Artillery Regiment was organized at Charleston, South Carolina, during the spring of 1862 using the 2nd South Carolina Artillery Battalion as its nucleus. Many of the men were recruited in the counties of Sumter, Darlington, and Charleston. Attached to the Department of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, the unit served at the forts and batteries around Charleston. In 1865 it was converted to infantry and, assigned to General Elliott's Brigade, took part in the North Carolina Campaign. During the operations on Morris Island <http://www2.cr.nps.gov/abpp/battles/sc008.htm>, July 10 to September 6, 1863, the regiment lost 2 killed, 15 wounded, and 1 missing. It surrendered with the Army of Tennessee. The field officers were Colonels A.D. Frederick and Thomas G. Lamar, Lieutenant Colonel J. Welsman Brown, and Major F.F. Warley.

14th Battalion, South Carolina Cavalry
14th Cavalry Battalion [also called 1st or 2nd Battalion] was organized early in 1862 with four companies. Many of its members were recruited in the western counties of the state. Serving in the Department of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, the unit fought at Pocotaligo and Coosewhatchie where it lost 2 killed, 13 wounded, and 13 missing. During January, 1863, it merged into the 5th South Carolina Cavalry Regiment. Major Joseph H. Morgan was in command.

First Generation
1. Victor Amede1 Gue was born in Cuba December 3, 1809. Victor died August 15, 1854 in Norway, Orangeburg Co, SC, at 44 years of age.
He married Harriet Ann Morgan about 1829. Harriet was born in South Carolina June 11, 1811. Harriet died November 16, 1877 in Norway, Orangeburg Co, SC, at 66 years of age. In the 1850 census Orangeburg, South Carolina page 311, Victor (age 39), is recorded with Harriet (age 38), Amine (age 20), Victor (age 17), Rhodesca (age 11), and Marion (age 9).
Victor is listed in the 1851 tax list of Orangeburg District S.C. as owing 354 acres and has 7 slaves.
There is a Victor Gue listed as Expelled from the Willow Swamp Baptist Church
Victor Amede Gue and Harriet Ann Morgan had the following children:
+ 2 i. Amede Phillip2 Gue <../d4/i0011983.htm> was born July 20, 1830.
+ 3 ii. Victor Amede Gue <../d4/i0011980.htm> was born August 29, 1832.
4 iii. Rhodesca Gue was born in South Carolina July 21, 1840. Lodie died April 30, 1917 in Norway, Orangeburg Co, SC, at 76 years of age. She married G. W. Kittrell. G. was born about 1840.
5 iv. Marion B Gue was born in Norway, Orangeburg Co, SC August 7, 1842. Marion died February 12, 1914 in Norway, Orangeburg Co, SC, at 71 years of age. Buried in Willow Swamp Cemetery He married Rebecca Fort in Orangeburg Co, SC, December 17, 1863.
Rebecca was born in South Carolina September 1, 1847. Rebecca died October 24, 1930 in Norway, Orangeburg Co, SC, at 83 years of age. In the 1900 census Willow Twp, Orangeburg Co South Carolina page 281, M.B. Gue (age 47) is recorded with his wife Rebecca (age 52). They have been married for 35 years.
