Derek G. Ling
Derek Gorden Ling, 15, of Chinners Creek Road, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2001.
He was born in Seattle, a son of Irby and Saskia Van Doorn Ling. He was amember of Mount Herman Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Aynor.He was a freshman at Aynor High School, a member of Junior ROTC and sangin the chorus. He wrote songs and poetry, loved and lived life to itsfullest and loved people and animals.
Survivors, in addition to his parents of Aynor, include his maternalgrandparents, Dick and Dianne Davis of Conway and Gerrit and Lydia VanDoorn of Bellingham, Wash.; paternal grandparents, Wallace and BillyeLing of Anchorage, Alaska; maternal great-great-grandmother Allie Stevensof Loris; and other family friends who loved him.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Goldfinch Funeral Homein Conway.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Churchin Aynor. The Revs. Micah Lane and Jimmy Floyd will officiate.
