LORIS - Henry Carlton Hughes, 73, of North Cox Road, died Sunday, March26, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
He was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Loris, a son of the late Clay and RuthHughes.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a past commander of theAmerican Legion Post No. 41 in Loris.
He was a real estate broker with Caines' Realty of Loris, a devotedmember of Loris United Methodist Church and a longtime president of theOlyphic Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Vaughan Hughes; two daughters, VaughanHughes Swygert and her husband, John, of Irmo, and Robyn Hughes Cain andher husband, Woody, of North Myrtle Beach; a grandson, James LoganSturkie of Little River; and a sister, Patricia Fisk of Charleston.
To help the cause of medical research, his body was donated to theMedical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Loris First UnitedMethodist Church, 5307 Broad St. in Loris.
Memorials may be made to the Horry County Shelter Home for Children, 1872S.C. 90, Conway.
