Elizabeth Engaine, b. c 1341, d. in or bef. 1387, heir of Laxton & Engaine, co. Northampton, & Engaine, co. Huntingdon; m. Sir Laurence Pabenham, b. 1334, d. 10 June 1399, of Pabenham, co. Bedford, Knight of the shire 1378, 1383, son of Thomas de Pabenham, d. 1345, of same, by wife Alice.
[Ancestral Roots]
Note: I think Laxton is in Northants, but the Engaine spoken of in the same phrase is probably Colne Engaine, Essex. I also don't find any Engaine in Huntingdon, but their manor at Gidding used to be called Gidding Engaine.
---
His [Thomas Engaine's] coheirs were his three sisters. ; (2) Elizabeth, aged 26, 1st wife of Sir Laurence de Pabenham, of Pavenham, Beds: she died in or before 1387: he, who was aged 11 in 1345, died 10 June 1399.
On 14 March 1367/8 and 25 May 1368 these three coheirs had livery of their purpartles of the lands which their brother had held in his demesne as of fee at his death. Among their representatives any hereditary Barony, that may be supposed to have been created by the writ of 1355, is in abeyance.
