In 1303 Alan Blogiou held two Mortain's fees in Treuval in the hundred of Penwith and two fees in Polrode and Donnant (Duvenant) in the hundred of Trigg.  The words "in custodia regis" in the margin probably indicate that at the time of the assessment Alan had not obtained seisin. ; In 1306 the assessment of the aid states that John Moveron and Henry Trethewy held Alan Bloyou's manor of Treuial, while Alice Carminow (Alan Bloyou's granddaughter) was liable for an aid of £4 in respect of the manors of Polrode and Donnant.(1)
In 1309 there was an assignment of dower to Joan, the widow of Alan Bloihou, where we find that she had inter alia a knight's fee in Delyamur and Neivalle (Deliomure and Newhall), a knight's fee in Donaunt Chapel and one twelfth of a knight's fee in Trewythred. (2)
The custody of Alan's lands was committed to Henry Beaurepeir, a yeoman of Queen Margaret, and the presentation of a clerk to Ludgvan was made by the king by reason of Ralph's minority in 1312.  In 1315 the king granted that Henry Beaurepeir and John de Stoure, to whom the former had demised the custody of Alan's lands, should not be harassed for waste.(3)
By a fine levied in 1324, 34 messuages including Nanskoyk Magna and Nanskoyk Parva were given to Walter Bluet and Johanna and were to pass to her son Ralph upon her death.(4)
In 28 Edward III the advowson of Ludgvan and the manors of Tregewal (Truthwall) and Nayscoyk were demised by fine by Robert de Loccombe and Ralph Mayndy, the proctors of trustees of Elizabeth, to Nigel Loryng, chivaler, and Margaret his wife.  (5) That this fine was a real transfer is evident from the Plea Rolls for 12 Henry VI (1434) where John Broughten, armiger, sued Thomas Carmynowe, armiger, and Edmund Kendall, clerk, for the next presentation to Ludgvan, stating that Elizabeth daughter of Alan Bloyou, at that time wife of Ralph Beaupelle, enfeoffed Nigel Loryng in 28 Edward III.(6)

Blohin's manors were Deliau, Trefrioc, Duvenant, Treveheret and Treiwal. If we turn to the _Feudal Aids_ we find that in 1303 Alan Blogiou (Bloyou) held two of Mortain's fees in Treuual in the hundred of Penwith and two fees in Polrode and Donnant (Duvenant) in the hundred of Trigg, while Henry Cavel and Robert le Brun held a fee each, as of Polrode, in Delionir and Delioubol respectively. There is no mention of Treveheret or Trefrioc. ...Alanus de Bloyou died 31 Edw. I. seised of a twelfth part of a fee in Trewythered.'(1-21) His inconsistency lies in this, that having rightly or wrongly identified Trehudreth with Alnod's manor or Trewderet, he should have brought in a totally different manor, viz. Blohin's manor of Treveheret to illustrate its subsequent history!  He would seem to have been in much the same plight as that familiar friend of our childhood who had lost his sheep and did not know where to find them.  The terrier of Polrode, which he was careful to print,(2-21) would have solved the difficulty if he had studied it. For that terrier gives, _as consecutive items, Trefreak and Trewetherd as members of the manor of Polrode_(3-21)  They appear to have been absorbed at some time between 1086 and 1303 into Polrode.  Not that they were lost sight of altogether.  In 1309, when there was an assignment of dower to Joan the widow of Alan Bloihou, we find(1-22) that she had _inter alia_ a knight's fee in Delyamur and Neivalle (Deliomure and Newhall), a knight's fee in Donaunt Chapel and one twelfth of a knight's fee in _Trewythred_.  Both Trefreak and Trewythred (or Trewethert) were situated in Endellim parish, where there are still farmhouses bearing those names.

That he [Ralph Bloyou] died in the same or in the following year is clear, for the Feudal Aid of 1303 assesses Alan his son for the fees in Treuual, Polrode and Donnant. ; The words 'in custodia regis' in the margin probably call attention to the fact that at the time of the assessment Alan had not obtained seisin.  Alan Bloyou died in 1305,(1) leaving a son Ralph....

A confirmation by Alan de Bloyou, lord of Treyndwal, of a release made by Sir Ralf Bloyou his father to Robert de Brevannek, son of Clarice, in frank marriage with Rose, Ralf's niece, brings before us a curious name, which can be traced back in Cornwall to the Conqueror's day.

Note: due to lack of a date, this could be about the previous Alan son of Ralph...CH

Alan Bloyou, is shown in 1303 to hold in Polrode and Dennaut (Daunnaud, Dawnath, Duvenant) two fees, and Henry Cavill held one fee.  When he died in 1306 Alan Bloighou died seized of one fee in Delyamur and Niwall (Newhall) of 70 shillings.  Polrode seems to have become dismembered at an early period.  The manor of Newhall was anciently a parcel of the possessions of the family of Bloyou, being held with Polrode when it passed into the family of Carminow, with the other Bloyou estates.  This manor of Daunnaud, etc., appears in Domesday under the form of Duevenant, when it was held by Blohui of the Earl of Moreton, in succession to Alward, who was in possession of it in the time of Edward, the Confessor, when he had one mansion called Dunenant; in it is a half a hide and pays gild for one nirgate. Blohui had one villan and three bond servants, and three animals, three pigs, 50 sheep, 40 acres of pasture, and the value per annum of 15 shillings. He married Johanna, daughter of Henry de Bodrigan, on 30 April, 1241, and had Michael, Richard and Ralph.
