He was the Justice of the Peace in Henrico Co., VA.
He was also a surveyor in Henrico Co., VA.
Member of the House of Burgess 1652, 1653, 1656-58.
Like his father, William was a man of considerable prominence and held the highest Civil and Military offices that the colony had to offer.
He was in charge of a militia company and all forces between Powell's Creek to the Falls of James River in Hanover Co., VA.
He inherited the Curles Plantation after his father's death.
His sister, Mary (Harris) Ligon recieved 200 acres.
He was killed in an Indian battle not far from where the town of Richmond now stands.
His will states that his sons William and Edward were from his second wife, Alice.
There is room for documentation of this discrepancy in the records.
If this wife, Alice, is correct, she remarried George Alves.
