McDUFFEE, 69, FORMER OFFICIAL OF COUNTY, DIES
ST. JOHNSVILLE, May 9—Winfield S. McDuffee, 69, former chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors and highway official for a number of years, died last night at his home in West St. Johnsville. He had been ill several years.
Mr. McDuffee was born in Charleston, November 7, 1880, the son of Judson and Thankful Brown McDuffee. He spent the early part of his life conducting a farm in
the-Town of Charleston. He served four terms as the supervisor from the Town of
Charleston and was chairman of the board in 1931. In 1930 he entered the employ of the Montgomery County Highway Department as road superintendent, a position he held until he retired in 1944 because of his health.
In 1933 McDuffee moved to West St Johnsville where he has since resided. He was an active member of the Grace Congregational Christian Church of St.Johnsville. He served as a deacon of the church, and sang in the choir as long as his health permitted.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Belle Montanye McDuffee, West St. Johnsville; three sons, Roy McDuffee of St. Johnsville, Lloyd McDuffee of Palatine Bridge
and Harold McDuffee of Fort Plain; one daughter, Miss Jean McDuffee of St. Johnsville; two sisters,- Mrs. William Pearl of Hampton, Conn., and Mrs. Harry
Romayne of Elmira; one brother, the Rev. Charles McDuffee, Saugus, Mass., several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home in West St. Johnsville. The Rev. Andrew McAllister, D.D., pastor of the Grace Congregational Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the West St. Johnsville Cemetery.
MARRIED AT BROWN'S HOLLOW
Wednesday at noon the marriage of Wlnfleld MacDuffee and Belle Dye Montanye of the town of Charleston was solemnized at the home of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dye, at Brown's Hollow. The ceremony was performed in the presence of about eighty friends by the Rev. Ira L. Peck of Charleston Four Corners.
After the ceremony the guests partook of a bountiful repast. Miss Maud Montanye, sister of the bride, acted as attendant to the bride, and little Jennie Montanye was flower girl. Charles MacDuffee, a brother of the groom, was best man. Mr. and Mrs. MacDuffee are very popular young people of their native town and have the best wishes of the community for a happy life. The bride was the recipient of many handsome presents, which included cosUy silverware, cut glass and furniture. The happy couple wiil spend their honeymoon at Niagara Falls and returning will reside with the bride's grandparents at Charleston.
