Grace Ann Scrogum 1876-1947
On Wednesday morning December 24, 1947, friends and relatives were saddened by the news of the death of Mrs. Charles L. Scrogum. Four years ago she suffered a stroke and since that time she has been an invalid. She suffered a final stroke on Monday evening which resulted in her death Wednesday morning.
Born Grace Ann Dickens, October 2, 1876, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Edward Dickens, early pioneers of this community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Scrogum who passed away eleven Months ago. They were married February 23, 1897. She spent her entire life in this vicinity.
She is survived by her three children: Earl W. Scrogum Of Chicago; Mrs Robert B. Lee (Vivian) of Rawlins Wyoming; and Mrs Elroy Runneberg (Ila) of Havelock, Iowa; two grandchildren, Charles and Marian Runneberg; and by her brother, Clate Dickens, of Marguette, Iowa. Also by two half brothers, Harry Ostrander of Glenwood, Minnesota; Vern Ostrander of Salem, Oregon; and two half sisters, Mrs. Bess Noble and Sadi Smith of Santa Rosa, California.
Funeral services were held Saturday mornig with Rev. A. H. Grossheim of the Presbyterian church of Waukon, Iowa, officiating. Burial was in Pleasent Grove cemetery at McGregor, Iowa. Pallbearers were Chas. Hinsch, Elmer Langlie, Chet Saeugling, Tony Snyder, and Wm. Wingen.
