Loretta A Ayers, of Shupp Hill, Tunkhannock, died Thursday at home. Born
Jan 14 1911 in Noxen, she was a daughter of the late Thomas & Jennie Mae
(Bishop) Patton. She graduated from Noxen High School in 1929 and Mansfield
Teachers Normal College in 1931. She taught school in Centermoreland until 1934. She later became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for several years at the Marlett Nursing Home, Tunkhannock. She also worked as a private duty nurse. For 16 years, she was a cook at the Pink Apple Restaurant, Tunkhannock. She retired in 1981 as a cook from the Tunkhannock United Methodist Home. She was a member of the Wyoming County Senior Citizens Center, Nicholson Senior Citizens Center, where she served as treasurer, and Neighborhood Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B; son, Ronald M; brothers, Roger,
Clark, Russell, Percy, Thomas and Clarence; and sisters, Clara Cunningham, Rose
Tonkins, Mildred Hopkins, Beulah MacMillian, and Eunice Marshall. Surviving are her son, Clarence, Tunkhannock; daughter, Margaret "Marge" Krause, Tunkhannock;
four grandchildren; five gr-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Kelly, Dallas and Jean Siglin, Factoryville, three step gr-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral 4 p.m. Sunday from Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W Tioga St, Tunkhannock, with Rev. James E Edwards, pastor of the Nicholson United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cem, Franklin Twp, at convenience of the family.
