SATURDAY RITES SLATED HERE FOR BLANCHE BLANDIN
Blanche Blandin, 77, wife of Floyd F. Blandin of 1425 Spring St., died Wednesday afternoon at a local hospital, shortly after admission. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the First Congregational church (UCC) with the Rev. Newell Davis, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery with James-Schalinske Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of Bert and Carrie Wilkes, she was born Sept. 16, 1889, at Riceville, Iowa, and was a graduate of the public schools of that community. She was united in marriage with Floyd F. Blandin on April 27, 1910, at Riceville. Following their marriage they lived in Riceville for a time, at Iowa Falls for 10 years, and moved to Grinnell in September of 1929. She was a member of the Congregational church, P.E.O. Chapter B.M., the Monday Club, and Attawasios Club. Surviving are her husband, Floyd; a daughter, Mrs. William (Dorothy) H. Fonda of Knoxville; two granddaughters, Susan Fonda of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Marilee Henneberger of Riviera Beach, Fla.; a grandson, Tom Berg of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; a great grandson, John Henneberger; and three brothers and three sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Carl, who died while in service in World War II, and one sister. A memorial has been established at the First Congregational church for those wishing to contribute.
