RITES FOR MONTAYNE TO BE SATURDAY
Fontario Point -- Services for Frederick A. Montayne, a retired lace importer and real estate operator, will be at 11 A.M. Saturday at the Piddock funeral home, Adams. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
Mr. Montayne died yesterday of a heart ailment at his Montario Point home. He was 72. Born in Cortland, he moved to Syracuse while still young and attended St. John's Military School, now the Manlius School, winning the "Head Boy" award, a gold medal signifying the school's highest honor.
From 1900 to 1915 Mr. Montayne operated a lace importing business in New York City and Paris. He later entered the lumber business and in 1922 became a real estate operator in Florida. He was associated with Joseph W. Young in developing Hollywood, Fla., and was also associated with the late George Gandy, Sr., in building a bridge that links St. Petersburg and Tampa, Fla.
His Montario Point estate was begun in 1930 when he bought the Thomas Colwell farm. In following years he added other lands by purchasing rams [?] along the shore of the point.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Patricia K. Montayne.
