BARONY OF KERRY AND LIXNAW [IRL]
V. 5. MAURICE (FITZJOHN FITZNICHOLAS), BARON OF KERRY AND LIXNAW, son and heir by 1st wife. No summons to Parliament was addressed to him in 1374, 1377, 1380 or 1382. Apart from the attack on the Bristol merchant mentioned above, nothing seems to be known of him except his marriages. He married, 1stly, about 1355, Elizabeth, daughter and heir of David DE CAUNTON (son of Maurice DE CAUNTON, by Alice, daughter and coheir of William DE ODDINGSELLS, of Pirton, Herts). She died 27 July 1364, ahd her son John died about six months later. He married, 2ndly, Joan FITZMAURIC.E, a Papal dispensation being granted 27 February 1398/9 to him as Maurice FitzJohn de Geraldinis, knight, of the diocese of Ardfert, notwithstanding kindred and fornication between the parties; their children to be legitimate. He is said to have died in 1398, and to have been buried at Ardfert.
