Oliver must have been born on or near his grandparent's property, known as "the Horseshoe Farm," near the Robinson River and Rapidan Station in Culpepper County. He apparently grew up and married his wife somewhere in that area. He reportedly moved to Cumberland County, Kentucky in about 1815. Oliver was joined there by his 88 year old father in about 1824, and apparently lived there until his death in 1838. There is a deed in Culpeper County in 1808, in which his parents are conveying him some property.

James Garnett , who in 1934 wrote the book about his father entitled, "Judge James Garnett: His Ancestors and Descendants," reported the his father Judge James Garnett told him the following:
"My grandfather Oliver (son of Robert) County, Kentucky, about the year 1815 and bought and settled on the farm which Robert Rowe now lives on. He lived there until his death. He died December 12, 1838, his wife died March 1, 1834.
Great grandfather Robert or Robin Garnett, about the year 1824 or 1825 and lived with my grandfather until his death December 30, 1830, at the age of 94.

According to Mary Lucetta Waggener and/or Lottie Halberstadt:
Robert moved to Kentucky in 1824, and lived there with his son Oliver in Cumberland County until he died in 1830.

Oliver Garnet; 1 male 20-29 years, 1 male 40-49 years, 1 male 50-59 years (Oliver), 1 male 90-99 years (Robin); 1 female under 5 years, 1 female 15-20 years, 1 female 50-59 years (Frances)
This seems to verify that Oliver's father Robin had joined him in Cumberland County and was living in his household. The age for Oliver seems to be off quite a bit from the date of birth I had (c. 1858). If that is accurate, he should have been 72 years old. It seems likely that he was born after the 1758 date that I have for him.
