I recall reading when I first started my family research that when his daughter Martha died that Gideon had loved her so much that he had her buried on the property so that he could look out at the grave last thing at night before retiring and first thing in the morning on arising.
I have not since been able to find this reference.
She was born about 1683, and would have died before the 2nd daughter named Martha was born in 1687.
