The General Armory book by Burkes' states that the arms for this family of WOODWARD - both of co Bedford, and Upton, co Bucks, [and the arms granted in 1527 co Bucks] were: Barry of six az and ar three bucks' heads cabossed or, on a chief of the third a wolf pass gu between two annulets sa.
The crest for Woodward's of County Bedford and Upton, Bucks were: A wolf's head ar collard sa studded or, between an acorn branch and a branch of fern ppr. While the crest for the Woodwards of co Bucks were: A wolf's head couped ar gorged with a collar sa charged with three plates.
Arms were granted to the Woodward - Buckinghamshire family in 1527; also to families of the name in Gloucester and London, England. Nearly all the arms of the Woodward family resemble each other. For instance: Barry of six azure and argent over all three harts' heads caboshed or ; on a chief of the third a wold passant gules, between two annulets sable. Crest: A wolf's head argent collared sable studded or between an acorn branch and a branch of fern proper.
