There is some debate among family members (basically, his daughter Mary Jane Leahy (Smith), as to where Henry Loyd SMITH was born: Arkansas or Oklahoma. H. Loyd SMITH Jr. mentions H. Loyd SMITH Sr. worked for Singer Sewing machine, during an interview 01 July 1995. However, Alice Elmira (HENLEY) SMITH tells me later that it was either a road or railroad construction crew for which H. Loyd SMITH worked. A Singer sewing plant had constructed a site in the Truman, ARK area - it was NOT Singer that H. Loyd SMITH worked.
Where was Henry Loyd SMITH born - in Oklahoma or Arkansas? His wife and son tell me that H. Loyd was born in Truman, ARK or enroute there, by oxen drawn covered wagon. Marriage License to be obtained in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Death Certificate states born Stillwater, Arkansas.
