Military service of Elisha Roberts:
Revolution: He served in the Virginia militia as a private. He was awarded 200 acres in Madison Co, KY on military warrant #3908, survey 1785. His acreage was at Paint Lick Creek, Madison County, KY.
Kentucky Indian Troubles: After the Revolution, the British in Canada continued to agitate the western Indians, causing serious conflicts in Kentucky with the Shawnee especially. A Kentucky militia company was formed called the 'Corn Stalk Militia' (1792-1811) because many of the volunteers in the beginning had no rifles and used corn stalks during their drills. Elisha served in the Corn Stalk Militia as an ensign in the 7th Regiment and then later as a captain in the 25th Regiment. He served under General George Rogers Clark against the Shawnee.
War of 1812: He served in the militia commanded by CPT Sturgis, under COL Sam South.
