" Hulda Elisabeth Sornsen Anderson studied three years
for grand. opera in France and Italy. One summer she
came to Kragero for a vacation. She met Hans Nikolai
Anderson, a Professor of languages and fell in love with
him. Since hewas poor he was met with much disapproval
from her parents.
Hulda married Hans without her parents
consent, and as a result she was not allowed to come
home. Her parents thought she had married beneath her.
Hans then went into business and had a store which was
doing; very well. However, he sold out afterawhile and
came to America. He settled in Wisconsin where he again
went intobusiness. He had a general store, two boats
on the lake, and some property. After he was well settled
he sent for his wife Hulda, my great grandmother. She
was frail in health and dreaded the long journey so she
kept putting it off until it was too late. She received
word that her husband had died. Theyhad had six chil-
dren: Mimi, Nenna Magdalena, Andrew Anderson,
A. G. Anderson, and. Kaia Margrete, my grandmother."
