Skipper Carl Andersen originates from Langebæk. He had 3 sisters who have been untraceable up to now. Carl gathered sailing experience as well as trade knowledge, especially on the corn trade. He married Lars Hansen Ellehammers oldest daughter Anne Marie Frederikke Larsen Ellehammer in 1856 and they lived in Bakkebølle, whre they had their first child. In 1886 the family moved to Langebæksgårdsvej in Stensby where Carl had built a house known later as "the yellow palace".They lived here for 10 years and had several children who ere baptized in Kalvehave. In 1876 the family moved to Vålse on the island Falster whre Carl had bought a piece of land from farmer Rasmus Jensen. Carl had all his life owned ships, together with other family members. However there is uncertainty concerning who owned which ships.
The first ship he owned was Løven, Later he had a ship called Sarpen, bought by Mads Jacob Hansens two brothers Christen and Henrik on Bornholm. It was modified and became a schooner which later was sold to some skippers on Bogø, and it was here that Carl bought the Sarpen. For a while the Sarpen was sailed by skipper Brasen, and under his command she sank with all hands during a storm in the Baltic. The ship however remained afloat due to its cargo of wood and was salvaged to Stubbekøbing where she was repaired. The Sarpen was sold to Greenland with a new name Klapmydsen. Carl died in 1900 whereafter his son Frederik Carl Andersen took over the business.
