On 16 Apr 1809 John or George Hotchkisson absconded with Bethiah the wife of Robert Stafford in Rempstone Nottinghamshire. He also took “divers articles of property”. They were supposed to be in the neighborhood of Birmingham. A newspaper notice concerning this appeared in the 29 May 1809 edition of Aris’s Birmingham Gazette. I am wondering if the John or George Hotchkisson mentioned in the newspaper notice is related in anyway to my 3G grandfather George Hotchkisson (1811-1905). He was born in 1811 in Nottinghamshire. The John or George Hotchkisson mentioned in the newspaper notice may have been the father or uncle of George Hotchkisson (1811-1905). My 3G grandfather George Hotchkisson (1811-1905) on a major brick wall for me. Perhaps there is a descendant of Robert Stafford and Bethiah Price who knows something about this incident.
