The Smithers were from GreenRiver, Wyoming --he was in the millitary in WWI, stationed at Montrose, CO or NewportNews, VA --He and Emma had twelve children --One child was born premature when Emma slipped on the floor of thetent they were living in at Salmon, Idaho. They called him Ben. Benwas kept on a slab in Benjamin Franklin Gambles tent for a coupledays. Then they buried him on the mountain at Salmon, Idaho. Opalwas eleven or twelve at this time. --He lost an eye logging.
